Rosacea & Redness

What Is Rosacea?

Both men and women are prone to facing facial redness and rosacea. This is a very common skin condition and can be very irritating for those who have it. What Causes Rosacea & Redness?

Redness and rosacea manifests due to several factors. It’s hard to pinpoint the single cause of this condition, but the environment can worsen the appearance. It does seem to be more of an issue with those who are of an older age and/or who have fair skin. There are 4 subtypes of this condition:

  • Erythematotelangiectatic: Flushing redness and visible blood vessels.
  • Papulopustular: Swelling, redness and acne-like breakouts.
  • Phymatous: Thick skin and with a rough texture.
  • Ocular: Irritation in the eyes, causing them to be red with the eyelids being swollen.

This condition affects more than just the skin and eyes of a person. As it is a chronic condition and thus not temporary, it affects the quality of life for those who have the condition. Those who suffer from this condition report feelings of frustration, embarrassment, worry, low self-esteem, anxiety and even depression. Given that the condition can flare up, it can interfere with work, especially those who are in a social environment and need to interact with the general public.
